Aquaman Movie Review

SPOILER ALERT

I wouldn't have watched this movie if not for my husband. He insisted that we should watch it so yesterday we did. As soon as the theaters changed program, he immediately told me that Aquaman is now showing. We were supposed to watch it at 12 noon, however we were delayed because of some circumstances so we opted to watch it at 1 pm. We watched at SM uptown CDO. We had lunch first at Mang Inasal. Then as soon as we were done, up the escalator we went.

So here's my review. It was amazing! The graphics were so believable! I laughed because there were funny moments. I cried because there were teary moments. I was shocked because there were a lot of shocking moments as well. Aquaman is one of the DC comic superheroes. He is also one of the justice league. In the Justice League movie, he was there alongside Superman, Wonderwoman, Batman, the Flash and Cyborg.

Aquaman is played by Jason Momoa of Game of Thrones fame. He played Khal Drogo in GOT opposite Daenerys Stormborn. The role of Aquaman really fits him to a T.  He has a big body and very strong. I like the scene in the submarine where he just throws down the pirates. One of the pirates hated him because Aquaman let his father die. This pirate got Atlantean technology from King Orm because he wanted to show one of the Kings of Atlantis that surface people were destroying their Kingdom and get his support to attack the surface.

This is Princess Mera, the daughter of King Darius, King of one of the Kingdoms in Atlantis. She went to the surface to ask Arthur to go home to Atlantis and claim his rightful place. She has power to control water. She is also very strong. She is played by Amber Heard. I admire her as an actress and she's also very pretty although there were some scenes where she appeared old.

I read a story on the web that says that Arthur and Mera are married. In the movie, they fell in love. Yey!

Nicole Kidman plays Atlanna, the queen of Atlantis who fled to the surface and met the lighthouse keeper Tom Curry off the coast of Maine. They fell in love and she bore a son. They named him Arthur. Arthur is Aquaman and the King of Atlantis. Atlanna fled to the surface because she didn't want to marry the merman her father picked for her. When Arthur was still a toddler, her father wanted her to return to Atlantis. So she decided to go home, however she was thrown in the trench where no one could survive but she survived. Arthur went to the Kingdom of the Trench because that is where the trident was located.

This is the villain in the movie played by Paul Wilson. He plays King Orm, the half brother of Arthur. He is the son of Atlanna to the Atlantean she was promised to. He played it very well. What is the conflict in the movie? King Orm wanted to declare war to the surface people because they pollute the oceans. He was going around asking the other Kings to join him. King of the Fishermen didn't want to join him and King Orm killed him right in front of his fishqueen and fishdaughter.

The underwater war scene was so awesome. When all sea creatures refused to attack Aquaman, it was very spectacular. Aquaman rode this huge crablike creature called the Kraken from under the ocean floor.
And King Orm was defeated. He urged Aquaman to kill him but Arthur did not oblige. He just said, "We'll talk when you're ready." At this point he acted so Kingly.
So peace was established. No more attack on the surface people.
I love a movie with a happy ending.

Don't leave the theater yet because there's a post credit scene showing that the pirate survived his encounter with Aquaman and vowed to find him.
